HIV Prevention: Cultural Competencies
HIV screening and management require understanding and accommodations for the social, cultural, and behavioral backgrounds of patients who test positive for HIV or who are at risk for HIV. Presentations to promote cultural competencies can include general talks or workshops on human sexuality, sexual health and STIs, or more specific talks on the unique needs of ethnic, sexual, transgender and gender minorities, patients with mental health issues, or patients with a history of trauma and stigma.
